The nation woke up to a horrific incident, an elite class couple and resident of New Colony, Gurgaon, Haryana has been arrested over the Brutal torture and burning of a Fourteen-year-old minor girl on Tuesday.
The minor girl is from Ranchi and was working as a domestic helper. The couple hired the minor girl five months ago through a placement agency to look after their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
The girl claimed that the couple beat her with a stick, hit her with a hot iron tong and gave her one meal only at night.
“They beat me with sticks, rope, a hot iron rod and used a blade to brand marks on my arm and lips. She would burn paper and light a matchstick and poke me with them. While washing clothes and for household tasks, they would disrobe me . I was given only one meal to eat at night, a small bowl of rice, and often ate leftover food from the dustbin since I was hungry for long periods,” she informed police.
She alleged that she was being beaten up for small things like when she would not do her work on time.

“Often, I slept on the floor in the drawing room naked. She tore the clothes that I had brought along. He disrobed me and hit me with a stick on my private parts. Once, they tried to strangle me and threatened to kill me. I felt helpless and was scared to tell anybody. I had not contacted home for two months as my SIM was not recharged. They kept me confined in the house,” she told police
According to activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj,who was the first one to raise alarm. She has tweeted that a teen had bruises all over her body and was in a “bad situation,” she requested assistance from organizations to rescue the kid in a tweet on Monday.
The couple identified as Manish Khattar and Kamaljeet Kaur have been charged under sections 323 (causing hurt), and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the Pocso Act at New Colony police station.
The court has the accused husband Manish to two-day police remand while his wife was sent to judicial custody.
Consequently, the couple were fired from their respective companies after the news became viral. His LinkedIn profile shows that Manish, 36, has worked as a deputy manager at Max Life Insurance in Gurgaon since April 2021.
“Max Life believes in upholding a high level of ethical and moral conduct at all times. We have severed the employment of the individual with immediate effect,” Max Life Insurance tweeted in response to a tweet by activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj.

His wife who worked in a Public Relations Media Company is also fired by her company
“We are shocked to learn about the human rights and child abuse allegations against Kamaljeet Kaur. As an organisation, we respect the Indian legal system and are strictly against any form of human rights abuse. The company has terminated her services with immediate effect,” Media Mantra tweeted.
