Snowfall in Sonamarg, night temperature rises at several places in Jammu and Kashmir

The Kashmir Valley is witnessing a dramatic drop of night-time minimal temperatures that have plunged the whole place into coldness and are in sharp contrast with recent weather conditions. Meteorologists are forecasted to cool by 3 to 5 degrees for the temperature change at night will feel quite significant.

Gentle evening in Srinagar and a cool spell in Qazigund


A summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, also had a nearly balanced low temperature of around four point five degrees centigrade on that night. However, at Qazigund, the mercury plummeted to a chilling 2.2 degrees Celsius and contributed toward reduced night temperatures.

Pahalgam and Gulmarg: Varied Cold Snap Intensity


To underscore the prevailing cold wave across the area, Pahalgam, which lies to the south of Anantnag district of Kashmir, also touched 0.5 degrees. The most severe was the minus one point eight degree Celsius that settled in Gulmarg, one of the major tourism destinations in the country.

The sudden cold snap that has hit the Kashmir Valley will no doubt see residents and visitors wrapping up at night, reflecting how even unexpected weather changes define this dynamic world.
