In the wake of tourists of the increasing number, the Garhwal administration imposed a ban on using a mobile phone within a 200-metre radius of the Kedarnath temple, Badrinath temple, Gangotri temple and Yamunotri temple that are the part of Char Dham Yatra. This decision was taken in the course of a special meeting focused on the Char Dham pilgrims, officiated by Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami.

Since a lot believers will converge at the sites, filming, phones, and the creation of social media content are prohibited within a 50-metre radius around the holy places. Similarly, press reports asserted that the Uttarakhand government has made an announcement that the VIP darshan at all the Char Dham temples will be prohibited. Amidst the glory of Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra, there was a call made by the Chief Secretary Radha Raturi for the prohibition of mobile phones from within the 200 metre radius of the shrines. Furthermore, the administration warned legal action would be taken against persons creating reels and spreading wrong news about the Lora Dam project.

Raturi the DGP wrote to all the counterparts, “We have reported a major increase in the number of tourists visiting the holy shrines Char Dham in Uttarakhand this year. ” “We believe that avoiding a “VIP Darshan” till 31 May, 2024 can help us manage more efficiently,” he further added. ”

To continue the letter, it stated the fact that the “Char Dham yatra is being organized in a proper manner. For movement of devotees undoubtedly, arrangements have been done. Nonetheless, people are producing videos for their social media accounts within the temple premises, which is the main reason behind gathering a crowd at one space and this is resulting in inconvenience for devotees.
