We all know by now just how important the Bihar polls are to the prestige of political parties. By how much?
At least double that of the Lok Sabha elections last year, if money seizure by the EC is any indicator. Last year, in the Lok Sabha elections, India’s Election Comission had seized Rs.60 million, money which was intended to influence the voters.
This year, the EC has so far seized double that amount, and this is just what they could catch. However, if one goes by figures being bandied about, the amount is enough to completely revamp India’s education system, or provide world class healthcare to it’s citizens. That is the obscene amount of money being thrown at the Bihar voters by all the political parties, wanting to seize power in this backward state.
The sad part of the tale is that despite such collosal quantities of money literally being burnt, the state of the common man still remains the same.
