UP declared Rani Laxmi Bai award for Sakshi Malik
The Uttar Pradesh government will now be honouring Sakshi Malik, the first woman as an Indian wrestler to win a medal in the Olympics, with the honour of Rani Laxmi Bai award.

This announcement was made by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday at a Raksha Bandhan ceremony, which took place in state capital. He also said that, Sakshi has made the nation proud as she won bronze at the Rio Olympics.
Akhilesh Yadav also said that: “I, further on behalf of the entire state of Uttar Pradesh, and congratulate her on this momentous occasion.”
The Rani Laxmi Bai award has a cash prize of Rs 3.11 lakh, a citation and also a statue of Rani Laxmi Bai. The 23-year-old has won a bronze medal in the 58-kg category wrestling on Wednesday.
