Titan Arum: Once in a ‘Bloom’ moon?
Tokyo’s Jindai Botanical Gardens was lucky enough to witness a rare sight – the world’s largest flower, Titan Arum, bloom.
Also known as the Corpse Plant in Native Indonesia because it emanates a meat smell, it only blooms three or four times in its 40 year life span. But when it does bloom, it extends longer than an average human, upto 3 meters.
At present, it stands at 1.9 meters and is a wonder in itself.
Sure enough, ‘bloom like Titan Arum’ is going to make its way to the hippest similes.
