The Jammu Kashmir cabinet has recently sanctioned the adoption of the state sponsored social assistance scheme for the poor girls.
According to scheme, the government will fund the marriages of girls of the state, living below the poverty line, who may not find themselves in a position to marry due to financial constraints.
The rules for availing the benefits of scheme are that girl should be above 18 years of age and should be identified as poor in the survey.
The girls will get 5gm of gold and 25 k as one time financial assistance for their marriage.
