Some thing’s rotten in the state of United Nations…
The taint of corruption has finally caught up with the august body of United Nations. An ex-president of the UN General Assembly, no less has been charged with taking bribes and has been arrested in the US city of New York.
John Ashe has been charged with taking bribes to the tune of $1.3 Million from Chinese businessmen including Ng Lap Seng, who is a developer to use his influence in the UN to sway building contrasts in their favour.
The investigation has been spearheaded by New York Attorney Preet Bharara, who said, “If proven, today’s charges will confirm that the cancer of corruption that plagues too many local and state governments infects the United Nations as well.”
