Lal Bahadur Shastri was India’s PM for a short period after the demise of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. On a state visit to Tashkent, the humble and much loved leader mysteriously died.
Known for giving the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’, in his short stint, he became the darling of the nation with his humility and un-assuming nature.
According to his son Anil Shastri, there were strange marks on the former PMs body, but the governemt hushed up the matter, and despite approaching all the governments so far, the details of his death are still locked up in secret government files.
What aroused further suspicion was the ‘accidental deaths of Lal Bahadur Shastri’s personal physician and personal assistants just before they were supposed to depose before a enquiry commission, ostensibly set up to inquire into the mysterious death of the former PM.
Now with the release of secret files pertaining to Netaji Bose, albeit by the West Bengal government, Shastriji’s family now have a renewed hope of finally getting closure.
