Shaker Aamer to be sent back
Shaker Aamer, the Saudi citizen who had been detained by the United States of America at Guantanamo Bay for almost 13 years now, will soon be released.
He was captured by bounty hunters of Afghanistan, who later handed him to the US troops. It was two months later that he was transferred to Guantanamo Bay. During this period, there was no trial or charge against him. He was believed to be a close associate of Osama Bin Laden.
It was only yesterday that President Barack Obama allowed his release. Aamer will be heading back to the United Kingdom, where his family stays. This release has come after lot of pressure from the UK government to do something about his release. His release comes as a great relief to his family, officials in UK and many humanitarian workers.
