Prince William backfired
The heir to the throne Prince Williams made a statement that did not make a lot of activists and wildlife conservationists happy. In an interview the Prince said that commercial hunting can be positive in saving endangered species.
The Duke of Cambridge justified hunting and poaching by saying that when an animal is infertile, he is at the end of his life so when someone wants to pay the money for the animal, it will in turn go into the protection of other species and that is a justifiable means for conserving those under serious threat.
While the critics described Williams’ comments as a ‘sad day’, they stated that there were only 15000 wild lions left in Africa and as a matter of fact those offered as prize trophy are under the age of six, which is the non reproduction age.
This is not the first time the Prince has said something that hurt the conservationists’ sentiments. He was earlier criticized for the wild boar hunt he went for in Spain.
