Stroking more controversy, Pope Francis has cannonized 18th century cleric Junipero Serra, also known as the ‘Apostle of Calfornia’.
Arriving from Argentina in 1769, Junipero created nine missions of catholicism in what was to become California.
However, his methods have been critisized, as he is said to have tortured and cooerced the native American Indians into accepting the Catholic Faith.
