NTCA data says, 69 tigers died last year
According to The National Tiger Conservation Authority almost 69 tigers died across the country in 2016, a marginal increase from 2014.
The highest number of deaths were recorded in Karnataka where 15 tigers are dead, followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh with 12 and 11 respectively.
Tigers death happened for various reasons, ranging from natural deaths and traps and snares used for poaching of tigers.
Expert of Wildlife and Former Chief Conservator of Forest PM has said that tiger deaths occurred due to natural reasons can’t be stopped. But officials will definitely make more efforts to stop deaths due to poaching and avoidable accidents.
