Mount Denali restored, an Artic way of life
North America’s tallest mountain Mount McKinley has been renamed by President Obama to its native name Denali (the high one or great one).
As part to fulfill his campaign concerns of Alaska Native Tribes. The Alaskan mountain was called McKinley for over a century and was regarded by the indigenous communities as an example of cultural imperialism. It has over shadowed the historical roots of the creation of the Koyukon Athabascans which had lived more than thousands of years.
The government is also developing new initiatives with the Alaska Natives to manage their own natural resources in promoting an arctic way of life.
