Modi Sharif meet in Paris
International Climate Conference is happening in Paris. This conference is being attended by world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The two nations have been at odds with each other since independence, as essentially, citizens of both nations belong to the same Indian Subcontinent family, divided by partition.
Many more mis-understandings have since arisen between the two nations, fueled by those who would not like to see peace in this region, and see both nations fritter away precious resources defending against each other, rather than investing in their own human resource development.
Given Modi’s penchant for growth rather than struggle, and also given that Sharif’s roots lie in business and commerce, one can hope for a improvement in relations between the two nations with a bit of steely resolve on both sides.
It is interesting to note that just a few days back, Sharif had issued a statement that he was ready to meet Modi without any pre-determined agenda.
According to reports, Mr. Modi and Mr. Sharif met today on the sidelines of the Paris Climate Conference, however the subject of discussion is not known.
Still, if there is a tangible improvement with each meeting, then even such baby steps would help.
