Lucknow woman found dead, family accuses live-in partner of murder over ₹1 crore insurance
A 30-year-old woman, identified as Geeta Sharma, was found dead on the roadside near her housing society in Lucknow’s PGI area on Friday. Geeta, who worked as a property dealer, was reportedly in a live-in relationship with Girija Shankar.
The incident came to light when local residents spotted Geeta lying unconscious on the roadside and alerted the police. She was rushed to the Apex Trauma Centre in Vrindavan Yojana, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Additional DCP (East Zone) Pankaj Singh stated that the postmortem report revealed multiple injuries on her body. “We are investigating whether the injuries were caused by an accident or if she was murdered,” he said.
Geeta’s brother, Lalchand, has filed a complaint against Girija Shankar, accusing him of murdering his sister. According to Lalchand, Girija initially misled him by claiming Geeta had met with an accident and was hospitalized.
Police investigations revealed that Geeta had taken out a ₹1 crore insurance policy, with Girija Shankar listed as the nominee. Lalchand believes this may have been a motive for her death.
Geeta was originally from Rae Bareli and had been living in a housing society in Lucknow’s PGI area.
The police have registered a case and are questioning Girija Shankar as part of their investigation. Further details are awaited as the inquiry into the circumstances of Geeta Sharma’s death continues.
This tragic incident has left the local community in shock, raising questions about trust and safety in live-in relationships.
