A low-intensity explosion occurred in a scooter parked outside a sweet shop in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area on Thursday morning. Police sources confirmed the recovery of a suspicious white powder from the site. The incident has drawn attention due to its similarity to a recent blast in the same locality.
The Delhi Police received a call about the explosion at 11:48 a.m. and immediately deployed a bomb disposal team, dog squad, and local police force to the area. Senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan, also visited the site to oversee the investigation.

“The blast was in a scooter. A white powder has been recovered from the scene,” a senior police officer said. Nearby shops were asked to shut down temporarily, and the area was cordoned off to ensure safety.
The driver of a three-wheeler parked near the site sustained minor injuries in the blast. The Delhi Fire Services dispatched four fire tenders to the location, and their teams are assisting with the investigation.

Authorities are comparing the incident to a previous explosion that took place on October 20 near the boundary wall of a CRPF school in the same area. That blast, caused by a crude bomb, caused significant damage but no injuries. However, officials have yet to establish a connection between the two incidents.
“This was a very low-intensity blast, and it’s too early to link it to the CRPF school explosion,” a police source said. The October 20 incident had raised concerns about public safety in the neighborhood.
Investigators are now focusing on identifying the white powder found at the site and determining its role in the explosion. Forensic experts are expected to analyze the substance and the scooter’s remnants.
The police are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities as they work to uncover the motive and perpetrators behind the blast. Further updates are awaited.
