BIBA showcased the magical summer ethnic collection for girls whose fabrics, designs and motifs talk about the imaginations and happiness of the season. In an exclusive conversation with One World News, Siddharth Bindra, Managing Director of BIBA said, “From this year we have started to promote kids wear more extensively and our participation in shows like these is one of our methods to spread the word around about our kids collection.
So, we are targeting every medium to promote the brand and are planning to invest around 20 Crore in promotion of kids collection. The colours are going to be light pastels and we see this sector as a huge developing market and it is an opportunity for brands. We believe in being affordable fashion and sell in 65 cities and hoping to spread more. We also have a website plus our products are easily available on various other e-shopping websites but we do not necessarily see it as a loss to our retail shops but an enhancement to our profits.”
Sheena Creations further showcased a collection that juxtaposes New York chic with classic comfort. Young boys and girls were seem walking yhe ramp in riot of colours. Talking about her experience in working with kids, Sheena said, “Superb, inner happiness, peace, joy is what I would describe the ramp walk as. I would like to kid’s ability to smile without pretending and their innocence. My line is of party wear for kids so the material is mix with glamour quotient to it. We are skin friendly and are exclusively for children.”
Upcoming actress and entrepreneur, Parvathy, who became the show stopper for Sheena Creations said “I am a kids person and love spending time with them. In Mumbai, I work with a few of NGOs which caters to the needs of specially-abled children. So, since childhood I have inclination towards the kids and i think they are the best thing god have created. They don’t know any negative feelings and are filled with positivity which is the best part of working with them because they add their positive feelings in you. My nephew walked for India’s Kids Fashion Week, Mumbai and it was a proud moment for us to see him on stage. Kids are really fearless and they give us the perfect idea how to lead our lives and that’s what I would like to adapt from them.”
Medha Nanda’s brand NONA showcased its collection inspired by Lotus and speaking about the same Medha said, “I have two daughters and i know what they love, they love flowns, duppatta etc. and for me it is easier. Lotus is a beautiful flower and has tranquillity, innocence and like my collection- Indian so it just goes together. The colour for this summer’s is light and happy colours and that shows how i look at kids. Walking with kids on ramp was really easy and exciting because they all are so confident that they gave a confident look to my collection.”
Continuing further she said, “I could never get the perfect thing for my children and thats when I realised there is a niche market for kids which is waiting to be explored and a lot of mothers are facing the same situation so that’s how NANO came into picture. I work with pure and natural fabrics and there is a lot of competitions since people have recognised the need of the market.”
Ruhi Singh, an upcoming actress and Ms Universal Peace and Humanity who became the show stopper for NONA brand said, “I feel like a kid myself and most of the time I am playing around and love playing games. Walking with them was an amazing experience because I learnt a lot from them and their confidence is something to get inspired from as they walked as if they are trained. Also, they are very fashion conscious. If I could get back something, I would want my childhood back. The best thing is the kids have the courage to dream however with growing up you put boundaries to it.”
The kids and the parents went all excited when Karishma Kapoor became the show stopper for the finale show by Kidology which portrayed the collection with playful silhouette, floral prints and appliqué embroidery inspired by Monet’s garden. Talking about her chemistry with kids and about the idea of organising such event, Karishma Kapoor said, “I think it’s great concept and amazing opportunity for parents to choose clothes for their kids throughout the year, irrespective of the occasion. You get an opportunity to have a look at various collections and choose the cutest amongst the all for your kids. I think being a mother is way better feeling than getting any award and it was really endearing and fun to walk with the kids on ramp today. If i get a chance to take away something from the kids, it would be their innocence. I think being around them makes everything better and positive.”
