Jefferson Davis’s statue to be shifted
Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate states during the period of 1861-1865; this was the time of the American Civil War.
The University of Texas, honours his service to the Confederacy and for this they have put a statue of Davis in the college campus. It is this very statue of honour that the UT has decided to shift from the main mall to a museum which is on campus.
This statute has been the topic of lot of controversies earlier and this may be the reason the shift was decided. This news was posted by the president of the University, Gregory Fenves on twitter.
