India Ranks 2nd in Abduction and Ransom Business!
India is once again in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. As per a study by Control Risk, UK, India ranks 2nd. Only after Mexico in the Abduction and ramsom business.
On one side the great economic strides made by India, post liberalization by the Narasimha Rao regime in the early 1990s, and the subsequent improvement in the road infrastructure by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government, the communications infrastructure to name a few have made India a global economic force. However, on the other side, India also seems to have made greater stride in the wrong business – Abduction and Ransom, even going ahead of countries like Pakistan and Nigeria.
If these reports are true, then India needs to beef up it’s internal security apparatus, and maybe have a relook about the criminal-politician-police nexus which can be a very possible and tangiable reason for this lapse in Law and Order. Otherwise, all the economic stride made during the past couple of decades may just come to naught.
