A fatwa that was issued by a group of Pakistani clerics says that honour killings are against Islam and anyone who carries them out is a heretic.

The council said that “Considering any killing in the name of honour to be justified is heresy.”
It also said in the fatwa that it seems like we “are moving towards an age of barbarism.”
Honour killing in the last year has taken the lives of about more than 500 men and women according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. This fatwa can be seen as a huge stepping stone in making changes in the society.
