Jalgram’ residents post pics, videos as Gurugram roads turn into rivers after heavy rain
After the downpour on August 11, Gurugram was transformed into the ‘Jalgram’. In the posts, residents of Gurugram shared photographs and videos showing the waterlogged roads that dominated the internet during the flood
The rainfall has flooded most parts of the ‘Millennium City’ and it has been paralysed since Sunday evening. The rain lasted for hours causing a heavy flood of water all over Gurugram and bringing the city to nearly a halt and people getting fuming angry as the city could not handle the water which came all of a sudden.
Social media users turn the name of the city into “Jalgram” where people are seen struggling in waist-deep water as pictures viral. A few other homes, in the affluent neighborhoods of the world were also submerged. Many of the users even tilted the Haryana government and the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s office claiming that the authorities should take immediate action against the accused. For example roads in areas like Golf Course Road, which has many luxurious apartments were compared to rivers by the social media users. Some of the users crucified the city’s civic authorities for what they termed as ‘failure’ to put into place decent drainage systems, others accused them of corrupt deeds while engaging in some construction projects.
