Although, the government is now making efforts to provide the best services to the passengers, the private players are still way ahead of them. E- Companies are trying to make rail journeys more enjoyable for the people of India by providing minute to minute information about locomotive location, availability of taxi and the best deals available in the hotels.
Even IRTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is re framing their policies to become more user-friendly.

They had recently announced that the users who use online ticketing for the most time would be rewarded by IRCTC. They believe that this would make the process of booking tickets easier and would also help in controlling the rush on the stations.
The winners will be randomly selected and they will be informed through an email or message. They can also check the winners list on the official site of IRCTC. This step is taken to encourage passengers to use the online medium for booking their tickets.
In the last four months many new dimensions have been added to the Indian Railways such as freight e -demand system, smart card for travelling and most importantly the train inquiry mobile app.
“These apps are really helpful. I can’t believe that Indian railway travel has become this much convenient. I remember those times when we use to stand in a long queue to take tickets or just to make an inquiry. Now I can find everything just on one click on my mobile”, says Radhika Joshi, a passenger.

Cleanliness in the trains and catering services are also on top of the priority list for the government. They are trying their best to provide best services to the passengers.
The Indian Railways daily carries an equivalent population of Australia. So it is laudable if they can implement these conveniences.
“The Railways have strict policies in the refund of money on cancellation of tickets. But with this money it is trying to provide user friendly services to passengers by offering them good meals which most of the passengers want and we are also trying to improve the cancellations process”, Says Surinder Singh, Commercial Railway Superintendent.
So, by using all these apps you can have a pleasant rail journey the next time you travel with IRCTC.
