BJP critisizes Congress definition of ‘Secularism’
Starting a talk on ‘Commitment to India’s Constitiution’, to commemorate the 125th. Birth anniv. The father of India’s Constitution B.R. Ambedkar, Indian’s Home Minister Rajnath spoke today in Parliament.
He said that the word ‘secular’ was not a part of the original constitution, but incorporated by way of amendment in 1976, by the then Congress Government, as the 42nd . amendment, and said that it was already inbuilt in the Indian social build up.
Also, it should be noted, that India was under a state of Emergency from 1975 to 1977, with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as Dictator.
Rajnath Singh further said “Secularism is the most misused word in the country. It’s misuse shoud come to an end. Because of the rampant misuse of the word, there have been instances of tension in the society.”
