Barapullah flyover name changes!
In order to mark 300th year of martyrdom of Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Delhi Government today decided to rename the Barapullah flyover on his name, it’s a kind of tribute Delhi government has given to him. A proposal in this regard was passed during a board meeting attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia here.

The move assumes important for the Punjab Assembly Elections next year. Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh was quoted saying that “Barapullah flyover has been renamed after Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. It is the third centenary of his martyrdom. The board for the project passed it today as a salute to the Sikh maharaja (king) who challenged the Mughals in Punjab.”
Well Singh had recently taken up the issue with the Chief Minister
who had received a Nagar Kirtan procession observed to commemorate the 300 years of Bahadur’s martyrdom on May 28 in Mehrauli where Bahadur was martyred along with over 700 other Sikh soldiers in 1716.
