Amjad Khan, encouraging and training potential talent for an international level boxing
Amjad Khan is an international boxer himself and currently is an international boxing promoter. Living in a society where boxing is something not meant for building a career, Amjad is the one who is now encouraging others and training them for an international level. He has set up various Boxing Training Centres. He personally trains the one who has enormous potential for the sport.

Amjad Khan started his boxing career in Kolkata in 2002. He went to Bangalore in 2006 for the further training where he got the opportunity to be trained under G. Manoharan, a winner of Olympian, Arjun and Dronachari award. He also told us his cousin Mohammed Ali Qamar who is the first Indian Commonwealth Gold medallist also supported him a lot in boxing at that time.
He has competed in many national and international boxing competition and has been a champion always. He has also served Indian Army for three years but his love for boxing was inevitable which compelled him to continue to train for boxing.

“Boxing is my passion. I think about Boxing Day and night because boxing is my only goal,” said Amjad Khan. The country’s youth population and talent lead to immense competition which is a major challenge when you are into sports. He added that among 4 crore candidates only 30-40 get selected for the nationals. He started his own boxing training centers in 2014 in Delhi which was inaugurated by two-time World Champion and Olympic silver medallist, Amir Khan.

In India Professional boxing has gone way ahead. Boxers like Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar are now competing at a higher level. “Many of our boxers has also got the ranking. For example Rahul Thappa, Rakesh has got the ranking of 3 and 4 in boxing. One of our boxers is getting training in America for the world championship.” he said.
Young women are equally interested in boxing and they are doing quite well. They are also entering into professional boxing and setting examples like Mary Kom. However, when the question related to women protection arises, he said, “If anyone wants to come for learning self-defense or self-protection to our training centers, then they are most welcome.”
