A pound of flesh for an iPhone?
This is not a spin on Shakespere’s ‘Merchant of Venice’, but a real story.
It happened in China. One person named Wu did not have the required money to buy an iPhone. Along with his friend Huang they decided to sell one of their kidneys to buy an iPhone each.
They searched for an agent and found one illegal agent through internet. The agent advised them to take a medical examination at a hospital in Nanjiing as per the procedure.
When they arrived at the hospital their agent did not show up. At this point Wu decided to reconsider their decision of selling their organs and advised his friend Huang too to persuade him to desist.
Huang did not listen but insisted on going through. However Wu called the police but Huang ran away from the spot and became unreachable. When last heard, he still could not be traced by the police.
