Woman in US loses life savings due to Tinder Swindler
Most recently, a report on Daily Mail showed how a woman named Rebecaa Holloway became a victim of such a scam. Being a divorced woman, she believed that she had truly found her match when a man began to woo her on Tinder.

The man went by the name Fred and would stay in touch with her through texts and they never met or hardly video called.
She says, “Single women approaching middle age are so vulnerable. We have money, but we might not have met the right guy yet. And suddenly, this good-looking man starts talking to you, and you’re excited.”
Fred won her trust and over the course of their relationship shared personal information with her to make her believe him. He then pursued her to invest in cryptocurrencies as he had done the same. When Rebecca first invested $1,000 , she earned USD168 and transferred the money to her account. This built her trust in Fred and the investment platform.

She then invested $6,000 and as she saw growing returns, she invested $401,000 of her life savings which she could not get transferred to her bank account.

Woman in Bengaluru also scammed on Tinder
A woman in Bengaluru was also scammed of Rs 4.5 lakh by her Tinder match.

How can you know if your tinder match is a scam? Look out for these signs
- They do not give a lot of personal details
- They hardly agree for video calls
- You have never met them face to face
- They try to gain sympathy by sharing their stories
- They ask for money for various reasons
- They ask you to make investments like they have
- There is very little information about them online
- They are quick to admit that they love you
- They are constantly travelling or busy
- Their photos look too perfect and they try to show a very fancy life through their photos
