If there are two social media giants at the moment, it is Meta and Twitter and both are powered and driven by extremely smart individuals. So, it is obvious that people are calling  Meta’s Threads The ‘Twitter Killer’. But, what exactly is Threads? What is Twitter Killer? Let’s find out. 

What is Threads?

CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new social media app called Threads that is being called “Instagram’s text-based conversation app.” The app has seen over 50 million users signing up in just two days of its launch. The app closely resembles Twitter and calls itself a place where “communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.”

Why is Threads being called the ‘Twitter Killer’?

At a time when Twitter is already facing so many controversies, Meta has decided to encash this and come up with a service that allows users to do the one thing that twitter was extremely famous for- Threads. Threads allows users to like, repost and share threads just like Twitter does. 

If you have an Instagram account, you can just use that to log into Threads and begin using the service. 

The past few months have been difficult for Twitter as Musk has bought some major changes to the micro-blogging website in order to change the structure and drive up revenues. The blue ticks, limited reading on free accounts and more has not been met with enthusiasm by the users.

While Threads does promise an interesting change, it remains to be seen how Musk will respond to it and how both Twitter and Threads manage to retain users.
