WHATSAPP FOR WINDOWS GETTING CALL LINKS FEATURE (IN BETA)
Meta-owned WhatsApp is going to introduce a new WhatsApp beta update on Windows which will bring support for the Call links feature to the desktop client. With this update, beta users will be able to now create a call link and share it with other users whether they are on WhatsApp or not to join the call.
Although, an updated UWP-based WhatsApp desktop client on Windows Store was introduced by WhatsApp last year which brought several new improvements and features to the WhatsApp for Windows app.
And now, the instant messaging platform on Windows is getting another new update soon.
WHAT IS WHATSAPP CALL LINK FEATURE?
As mentioned already, the feature ‘Call links’ will allow users to create a call link like other platforms like Google Meet, Teams, etc. Also, you can share it with other users who can join a voice call or video as per their preference by clicking on the same link.
The feature will be available on iOS and Android versions of the app, and it is also being tested on the Windows version. Also, it is important to note that WhatsApp will also allow you to share the link with anyone you want. However, the ones who are not using WhatsApp will have to create a new account and then they can join the call.
HOW TO CREATE CALL LINKS ON WINDOWS USING WHATSAPP
Users are required to enroll in the WhatsApp Beta program and install the beta version of WhatsApp on their PC running Windows 10 (minimum or later) or Windows 11. After this, they can head to the Calls tab and click on the Create a call link option. It can be shared with other users of WhatsApp along with non-WhatsApp users once the link has been created.
SPLIT VIEW INTERFACE FOR ANDROID TABLETS
Another feature ‘Split Screen Mode’ will let users access simultaneously the chat list and chat window and will be available within status tabs and the calls.
As per the latest report, WhatsApp is adding a split view to the tablet version available on beta for Android 2.23.5.9 including the reference for the tweaked interface.
The report also revealed that the feature would let users quickly switch between conversations and multitasking. The tweaked interface experience of WhatsApp is currently limited to Android beta users and the same for the tablet version is available but requires installing the latest update of beta for Android from the Play Store.
And in case it is not available for your WhatsApp account, please wait for a future update as it takes time to roll out for everyone.
Thanks to the split view, users will be easily able to switch between conversations without losing track of their ongoing chats, and will make it easier to manage and organize chats as it is possible to quickly scroll through the list of conversations in order to find the one people need without having to exit the current chat.
