Scientists at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) , Switzerland, have created a virtual rat brain portion called the Neocortex.
This piece has approx. 31 thousand brain cells of more than 200 kinds with more than 37 million neural pathways.
This is no small achievement, which is a part of Blue Brain Project, whose eventual aim is to digitally create a human brain, after experiencing success with a complete rat brain.
This model when complete, will help in better understanding of the brain, most of which is still a anomaly to doctors and scientists.
