NASA satellite loses use of two science instruments
About seven months ago NASA launched a satellite which has lost the use of two science instruments said the space agency.
However, the mission to map global soil moisture will continue the space agency added.
The radar instrument of the Soil Moisture Active Passive satellite stopped transmitting on July 7 due to high power amplifier.
The space agency also stated that an attempt to power up the radar was taken but was unsuccessful; it was determined that all possible options were exhausted and the radar was not recoverable.
NASA began this operation in April and collected nearly three months of data.
The first global soil moisture maps were released in April.
