Lenovo Smartphones will have inbuilt Microsoft apps
Microsoft and Lenovo have recently announced a strategic tie-up. Under this agreement, Lenovo will load all Microsoft’s productivity apps — including the Microsoft Office, OneDrive and Skype — on some of the selected Lenovo devices that use the Android operating system.
Lenovo expects to further ship millions of these Android-based devices, in worldwide over the next several years. This expanded the collaboration between Microsoft and Lenovo also includes a patent cross-licensing agreement that will cover Lenovo and Motorola devices.

“Our collaboration with the Microsoft will create new opportunities for the customers to take advantage of some of the Microsoft’s most popular apps,” said Christian Eigen, Leader of Corporate Alliances, and Lenovo. “Installing Microsoft apps and the services on our devices will bring additional value to consumers around the globe.”
The patent agreement is yet another example of the important role intellectual property (IP) plays in further ensuring a healthy and also a vibrant technology ecosystem. Since Microsoft has launched its IP licensing program in the year December 2003, it has entered into more than 1,200 licensing agreements.
In the last few years, Microsoft has entered into similar deals with several manufacturers like, Asus, Samsung, LG and Xiaomi.
