On Tuesday Apple was granted patent , which indicates future iPhone models will switch to lightning connectors and bluetooth for headphones.
In other words high quality audio output and pickup can be implemented in portable electronic devices as it will go slimmer and smaller.
There is consequent need for improved approach to provide high quality audio output as they get slimmer and smaller.
As with all the patents, it is not necessary that apple will use it in the production.
The patent ,however, gives an idea about the directions the company will use for exploring for future products. It might also develop wireless earphones which will feature no wires.
