Ever since the Open AI’s chatbot Chat GPT has become popular, people have been using it for everything- from writing resumes to giving it exams to solve. And surprisingly, ChatGPT has aced all of it- except a few. ChatGPT failed these exams, showing that human intelligence may still be one step ahead. But what are these exams that ChatGPT could not pass? Let’s find out.
JEE Advanced
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is among India’s most prestigious exams. Each year, students put their hearts and souls into this exam in the hope that they get into a good IIT. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is the most respected and sought-out college for engineering, technology and architecture in India.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced tests the students in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The questions are challenging, tough, practical, and critical thinking oriented.
ChatGPT could solve only 11 questions out of the total number of questions. According to Professor Ram Gopal Rao, former director of IIT Delhi, the inability of ChatGPT to solve these questions might be a result of complex diagrams and figures.

Another exam that ChatGPT failed to ace is the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC. The exam is conducted to recruit civil servants or bureaucrats. The exam covers topics from ecology and current affairs to ancient history- everything that can be imagined. It could answer 54 of the 100 questions correctly, meaning it couldn’t clear the exam. The chatbot failed to answer Geography, History, and Economy questions and also chose its own option of “None of the Above” when it was not mentioned.

This exam is one of the toughest exams in India, where only the top candidates get to the final level.
Accounting Exam
According to the journal American Accounting Association, ChatGPT-4 was fed multiple accounting questions but could not outperform a human. It got a score of 47.7 percent, whereas the students got a score of 76.7 percent.

Though these failures of ChatGPT show that Artificial Intelligence is not the “know-it-all,” it is something we need to be careful about. AI is the future and will soon take over a lot of things. So, it is better to embrace it and use it to our advantage while we have the chance.
