Apple will start producing iPhones at Bengaluru centre, here is all you need to know
According to the report of a leading daily, Apple will start producing iPhones at Bengaluru centre. Now the Apples will have ‘Made in India’ iPhones, and they will come out in a factory of Bengaluru. The Karnataka government on Thursday gave its nod to the company’s proposal “to commence initial manufacturing operations in the state.”

Notably, Apple had finalised Bengaluru as the assembling location last year in December, but officials in neither Apple nor the government were then willing to confirm the development.
Release issued by the Government confirming the development
A release has issued by the Karnataka government confirming the development. It has been signed by the state IT Minister Priyank Kharge, said “Apple’s intention to produce iPhones in Bengaluru will foster cutting edge technology ecosystem in India which is really important for India to compete globally.” The production is expected to begin from June 1st.

Some major facts that you need to know
Interestingly, India will be the third country globally to assemble iPhones. It is an indication that India has become really valuable for the global giant. Taiwanese company Witsron, an original equipment of Apple will make the iPhones in the city’s industrial hub of Peenya.

According to the government, discussion are on with Apple for some more collaborations in other areas too. Though the government did not mention the areas, but the government has said that it is pushing discussions for manufacture of some more phone components to create a manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
Notably, there is no ecosystem component in India besides What Samsung has done and collaboration with Apple can position India as a strong alternative site to China and Taiwan that have been strongholds in manufacturing.
