DUSU election 2023: Voting Underway For Four Main Posts

Elections for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) resume after a four-year break caused by COVID-19, with 24 candidates running for a variety of positions while the National Education Policy (NEP) is discussed.

Again like every year DUSU  is ready to welcome its new President. But this year was much more exciting and furious than Ever. Delhi University is holding the DUSU elections after a four-year break. The most recent DUSU elections took place in 2019. Due to COVID-19, the election could not be held in 2020 or 2021, and it might not have been held in 2022 due to potential delays to the academic calendar. This time around, 24 people are running for student body president.

Elections for four important positions are being held by the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) on Friday, September 22. The National Education Policy (NEP), which was implemented in 2020 by the Centre Government, was the election topic that resonated throughout the Delhi University campus.

Candidates for all four positions—president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary—have been presented by the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Congress’ National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the CPI(M)-supported Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and the All India Students’ Association (AISA), a member of the CPI-ML (Liberation).

Three of the four seats were won by ABVP in the 2019 DUSU elections. Around one lakh students are anticipated to vote in the election, which serves as a launching pad for aspiring politicians.

The majority of the colleges and faculties at Delhi University are represented by the DUSU. Additionally, each college has a unique student union, for which elections are held each year.
