Career Info
Kohli’s actual career began in the year 2006, when he became a part of the Delhi Under-19 team. He also captained the team in 2008 and led them to victory.
After this, there was no looking back for him and he was selected to play for the Indian team in 2008 and this launched his international career. He was made a part of the ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. As a 19 year old on his first international match representing the country, Kohli’s maiden stint was just 12 runs long. But, he caught up in the end of the series and did a great job.
In 2009, he made his first century in an ODI match against Sri Lanka. In the year 2010, he was made a part of tri-nation ODI tournament in Bangladesh where he became the third Indian player to score two centuries in ODI before the age of 22. Over the years, Kohli has come to be known as the angry cricketer, but he has channeled his anger into the game very well.
He has also won the ICC ODI cricketer of the year award in 2012 and has been the highest run-scorer for India in ODIs for 2010, 2011 and 2012- three consecutive years.
Kohli has also captained the Indian cricket team and during his captaincy, India won 40 out of 68 Tests, 65 out of 95 ODIs and 30 out of 50 T20Is.
He had also made his IPL debut in 2008 in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He has been the captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2013 and led them in 140 matches.
