Renowned wrestler Vinesh Phogat, a gold medalist in the 2018 Asian Games, has regrettably withdrawn from the upcoming Asian Games due to a left knee injury. The announcement was made on Tuesday, with Vinesh scheduled to undergo surgery in Mumbai on Friday. Her injury dashes her hopes of defending her gold medal achievement from the previous Games.

Vinesh expressed her disappointment in not being able to participate in the Asian Games, as well as her regrets in missing out on the World Championships and the selection trials set for next month.
