Vaibhav Suryavanshi Creates History at Just 14: Smashes Fastest T20 Century by an Indian and Becomes Youngest Centurion in IPL and Limited-Overs Cricket

Among the stupendous surprises in an IPL season there, none have been more electrifying than the rise of 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenager, hailing from Bihar, has taken the cricketing world by storm with an astonishing maiden hundred that has created records like no other in a single innings. Jaipur was the venue, the stage was grand, and the performance was surely historic.

From the very first ball of his IPL journey, Vaibhav made it clear that he meant business and smashed a colossal six, signalling to his open-mindedness. But what followed shocked fans and pundits alike-a century made in just 35 balls off reputed bowlers such as Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Rashid Khan-not only having handed world-class bowlers such as these with maturity far beyond his age, but also rewriting the history books of cricket.

Without any doubt, the biggest of all those records was becoming the youngest centurion in T20 history. Just 14 years and 32 days old, Vaibhav went past India’s Vijay Zol, who was 18 when he scored a T20 ton. Not content with that, his century made him also the youngest player ever to hit a ton in any one-day format, thus breaking the long-standing record held by Zahoor Elahi of Pakistan since 1986.

Vaibhav: fastest by an Indian in T20 centuries is now, among Indian cricketers, 35-ball ton putting his name – The fastest T20 century by an Indian has now become Vaibhav, among Indian cricketers, who smashed the 35-ball battering the erstwhile 37-ball century record of Yusuf Pathan. Not just shot selection and confidence but a rare consistency that saw him score his first IPL fifty earlier in this tournament, thereby becoming the youngest to hit a half-century in the league and outdoing Riyan Parag in the previous milestone.

One of the most thrilling parts was the sheer dominance in boundary hitting. Vaibhav with a record smashing eleven sixes equalled the record of most sixes in an IPL innings, something only previously matched by Murali Vijay. The fearless-hitting spree also meant that 93.06% of his runs came through boundaries, hardly a record in itself for any IPL centurion. Seven fours and 11 sixes out of his 101 runs from boundary shots tell how dominating the innings were.

Adding to his impressive list of accomplishments, Vaibhav became the fastest Indian to a maiden IPL century, coming in just his third innings. Previous record holders Manish Pandey, Paul Valthaty, and Priyansh Arya all needed to go through four.

Cricket fans around the world have not been left without speech — by Vaibhav’s maturity, fearless batting, and calmness under pressure. One, from being a young hopeful, became a record-breaker within a few days. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey is nothing less than inspirative. Is this the way he is performing at 14? The future of Indian cricket appears to have found yet another glittering superstar.
