Who is Geet Sethi? The 9-Time World Billiards Champion
For the unaware, Geet Sethi is a legend in the world of Billiards. And rightfully so. What is sad is that many (and I mean by the major numbers) have no idea about this Indian billiards player who has possibly written multiple histories and is one of the greatest billiard players of all time.

So who is Geet Sethi?
Geet Sethi is a Billiards player from Gujarat and also the founder of Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), a non-profit organisation whose mission is to support Indian athletes and help them win the Olympics Gold medal. From Mary Kom to P V Sindhu, OGQ has played a significant role in bringing home pride.
Born on April 17th 1961, this extraordinary player has been involved in the games since a very young age. With a career that spans more than 30 years, Sethi has also defeated champions such as Michael Ferreira.
A True Champion
- He has won the World Professional Billiards Championship a total of five times- 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, and 2006.
- He is also the winner of the World Amateur Championship three times- 1985, 1987 and 2001.
- In 1987 he was also the Asian Billiards Champion.
- He also won four National Snooker Championships in 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988.
- He made the country proud in 1998 by winning an Asian Games gold medal.

Awards
Sethi is also the recipient of the Arjuna Award (1986), Khel Ratna (1992), Padma Shree (1992), KK Birla Award (1993), and Billiards Player of the Year (1999).
Record
Sethi is also the only cueist in the world who scored 1000+ in Billiards and a maximum break, 147 in snooker. This record also finds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, him being the first amateur to have achieved this feat.
In the 1992 World Billiards Championship, Sethi created a world record of 1276 points which was only broken 15 years later in 2007.
India has probably never seen a better Billiards player than Sethi, and even if it does, Sethi is and will always remain a legend.
