India’s team achieved an impressive victory against Sri Lanka in the Super over, with captain SKY stylishly sealing the deal in Pallekele on Tuesday (July 30). In pursuit of India’s score of 137/9, Sri Lanka needed 30 runs off 30 balls at one stage but could only reach 137/8 in 20 overs. The game resulted in a draw, leading to a super over.

The focus of the Super over was solely on India. Sri Lanka were dismissed for 2 runs during the Super Over, meaning the Men in Blue only needed three runs for victory. India achieved a clear and easy win.

India’s batting highlights

India was asked to bat first and managed to recover strongly, scoring 137/9 in 20 overs. India bounced back from 48/5 to end up scoring 137. Opener Jaiswal appeared sharp at the beginning of his innings but got out to Theekshana after scoring a few boundaries, while captain Suryakumar Yadav was sent back to the Indian dressing room after scoring only 8 runs while going for a big shot.

In this time frame, India experienced the absence of Samson and Rinku, scoring 0 and 1 runs, respectively. Samson failed to score any runs for the second consecutive time in this match.

In his debut for Sri Lanka, Wickramasinghe bowled a remarkable 4-over spell and ended with figures of 1 wicket for 17 runs. Pathirana was injured while making a diving stop, causing him to exit the field after the 7th over without bowling again. Sri Lanka had no choice but to utilize 14 overs of spin on a pitch that greatly favored the spinners.

Upcoming ODI Series

The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to start on August 2. The second ODI will take place on August 4, and the third and final ODI will be held on August 7.
All three ODIs between IND and SL will take place in Colombo. In the upcoming series, Team India will include Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav among its players.
