As reported by The Indian Express, Rohit’s leadership during India’s show of power in the T20 Champions Trophy final in Dubai is said to reaffirm all the credentials for him to be the ideal candidate to lead a challenging England tour. This tour is significant, as it will be the first such test in the ICC World Test Championship cycle (2025-27) for India.

Yet, he gave a noncommittal response on the question of participating in the 2027 ODI World Cup, as he would rather keep open his options. “At this moment, I’m in a great space, enjoying my cricket and contributing to the success of the team. The team enjoys having me around, which is a great feeling. As for 2027, it is a bit too far-off; still, I will leave all options open,” Rohit said during the ICC interview.
The highly awaited Test series of India in England will be commencing from June 20. Under Rohit Sharma, the team will aim to herald a new World Test Championship cycle, building on their successes under his captaincy.
