PM Modi Offers Words of Encouragement to Team India in Dressing Room Following World Cup Final Heartbreak
India’s hopes of clinching their third World Cup title were shattered in a thrilling final against Australia in Ahmedabad. The Australians, with a clinical performance, secured a six-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium, leaving the Indian players visibly dejected on the field.
Prime Minister Modi’s Consolation
Despite the heartbreak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present at the stadium, demonstrated his support for the team. After presenting the trophy to Australian captain Pat Cummins, Modi visited the Indian dressing room to console the players. In a video clip, Modi could be heard offering words of encouragement to key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, reminding them that the entire country was proud of their achievements. He spoke in Gujarati with players like Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah, emphasizing the need to keep their spirits high.
The Final Showdown
India touted as the favourites, faced a formidable Australian side that had an eight-match winning streak. Despite a strong start, India’s batting lineup collapsed, posting a total of 240. Australia’s disciplined bowling restricted India after a promising start, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami leading the charge. However, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne’s formidable 192-run partnership turned the tide in Australia’s favour. Head made a historic 137, while Labuschagne remained undefeated with fifty-eight runs as Australia won by six wickets.

The Unpredictable Turn of Events
India’s march to the last one was impressive with four wins of which that over Australia during the initial stage was memorable. However, Australia started on a wrong footing where they lost two matches before rebounding and recording a series of wins.
Travis Head got out in the 43rd over, allowing Glenn Maxwell to end the game with a couple of runs on his first ball. He was crucial for Australia’s success by playing a heroic double hundred against Afghanistan though in pain with several cramps earlier he was rejected by Rohit Sharma.
With regards to this incredible World Cup culmination for cricket lovers, we must wait to assess the consequences in the next championships for the Indian team players. Prime Minister Modi going to the dressing room is a symbol of how much the country cares even when they are not happy.
