England all-rounder Liam Livingstone’s journey in IPL took a new turn with him being high-profilely drafted to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2025 season as he went for Rs 8.75 crore at the auction. This after being released by Punjab Kings, which had been home to a patchy stint in the franchise for Livingstone. Despite interest from four franchises, RCB eventually managed to rope in his services and the England star was reportedly very positive about a new start at Bangalore.

Livingstone had an abysmal run of batting for the three years he played for PBKS. In three years, he scored 437, 279, and 111 runs. Numbers were there but glimpses of potential never got an all-rounder into rhythm for Punjab. But he believes that the dynamics at RCB, particularly at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, will present him with the ideal conditions to regain his touch. Speaking candidly on the subject, he claimed that his game would go much better at Bangalore than it had done at Punjab and cited the stadium’s smaller dimensions as a prime reason.
The fan base is very passionate. It’s probably one of the biggest franchises in IPL. It’s a bit of a fresh start for me,” he said, exuding elation at playing in front of RCB’s giant and boisterous audience. He said he wanted the change in environment to bring out the best out of his game.

Livingstone also praised RCB’s approach in the IPL 2025 mega auction, where the franchise strengthened its squad with key players like Jitesh Sharma, Phil Salt, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. According to Livingstone, these smart acquisitions would make RCB a big force in the upcoming season.
The England all-rounder also talked about his eagerness to play along with some of the biggest stars of the IPL, specifically Virat Kohli. “There’s a few people in that team I know really well, so I’m pretty excited to get out there as a group. Playing with the likes of Virat is going to be really cool,” he remarked, further adding that captaining his country had been an incredible experience. Joining RCB would take his career to greater heights as he hoped to make contributions to the success of the team. With a bright group and a new beginning in Bangalore, everything seems to be in place for him to shine.
