India vs Australia Test: How Ravindra Jadeja steals the show

India vs Australia Test: Heroic comeback to fighting ointment controversy,
Ravindra Jadeja is making the news

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is known for his versatile skills as he can bat, bowl, and field with equal prowess. Jadeja has saved numerous runs for the team India and has taken some spectacular catches over the years with his electric fielding and quick reflexes,

On the opening day of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia, managed periods of counterattack, and it was not enough to keep India’s relentless attack at bay as they slipped to 174/8 by Tea with Ravindra Jadeja bagged a five-wicket haul – (5/42) in the first innings of the match.

The innings unraveled quickly in the second all thanks to the left-arm all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, after an 82-run stand between Marnus Labuschagne (49) and Steve Smith (37) kept India at bay over a large part of the first session.

The 34-year-old player was also the leading wicket taker the last time when the team from Land Down Under played a Test series in India.

Jadeja spilled the beans on his comeback to international cricket following an injury bout.

“Playing Test cricket that too after 5 months is tough,” said Jadeja on stumps at day one. “I was working hard on my fitness and I was prepared for it on my skills as well at NCA. After a long time, I played a first-class game (Ranji) and I bowled for almost 42 overs which gave me a lot of confidence to come here and play a Test match against Australia.”

Jadeja further added that during his time in rehab, he would bowl for insane hours while he was in Bangalore at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to be Test match fit.

The incident occurred on Day 1 of the test series between India and Australia when a video of Mohammed Siraj applying something on Jadeja’s bowling palm went virat towards the end of play, and he could be seen applying it to his left index finger.

But at no point was the all-rounder seen applying anything on the ball, but he had it in his hands at that moment.

The incident received multiple reactions from the cricket fraternity including the former Australia captain Tim Paine labelling it as “interesting”. Meanwhile, Australia legend Michael Clarke felt that the ball should have been handed over to the umpire, while applying the ointment.

However, according to reports, it was reported that match referee Andy Pycroft did approach India captain Rohit Sharma and Jadeja at the end of day’s play and showed them the video.

Responding to the video, Rohit and the management stated that it was a pain relief ointment that Jadeja was putting on his fingers.

The controversial footage of Jadeja rubbing pain relief ointment is doing the rounds on various social media platforms.
