IND vs WI: Penalties Imposed by ICC After 1st T20I Clash
In Ind vs WI, teams faced fines from the ICC for a slow over-rate during the first T20 International match of their five-match series in Tarouba, Trinidad.
Both teams were required to complete their overs within a specific time frame, but they fell short, leading to fines. India was fined five per cent of their match fee for missing the minimum over-rate by one over, while West Indies received a more substantial penalty of 10 per cent for being two overs behind.
Richie Richardson, an International Cricket Council Elite Panel Match Referee, imposed the sanctions after considering time allowances. Hardik Pandya’s side was one over short, and Rovman Powell’s team was two overs behind the target.

According to the International Cricket Council Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are penalised with a five percent match fee fine for each over if their team fails to bowl within the allocated time, capped at 50 percent.
Hardik Pandya and Rovman Powell accepted the proposed sanctions, avoiding a formal hearing.
India lost the first T20I by four runs. The second match is scheduled in Providence, Guyana, on Sunday.
