CSK Fans Turn Against Dhoni and Team After Crushing Defeat to RCB in IPL 2025

CSK fans are furious after their team’s 50-run loss to RCB in IPL 2025. Dhoni’s late entry, poor tactics, and Gaikwad’s response left fans frustrated.

Why Are CSK Fans Criticizing Dhoni and Team After Their Embarrassing IPL 2025 Defeat to RCB?

The IPL 2025 season skidded into the sweaty shell of unfolding drama. M.A. Chidambaram Stadium witnessed the latest battle in which Royal Challengers Bangalore inflicted a historic 50-run loss onto Chennai Super Kings in their maiden win against CSK at Chepauk. But it was the disaffection shown by the fans of CSK against their beloved Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MSD) and his men that left cricket connoisseurs pampering.

Why Are CSK Fans Angry?

Lack of Intent and Poor Batting Decisions

Batting under pressure to chase a stiff target of 197 runs, CSK’s batting lineup melted with regular loss of wickets. The team was decimated to 80/6 in 13 overs. However, what really irked the fans was the decision of sending Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of Dhoni when runs were asking to be made at a quick pace.

The incensed fans flocked to ‘X’ to vent their unhappiness. One of the users remarked,
“If Dhoni is coming in at No. 9, what’s even the point? He is clearly playing just for his brand value and not for CSK’s success.”

Negative comments were also passed regarding this decision by ex-cricketer Irfan Pathan, questioning why a finisher like Dhoni was held back until the game was practically missed.

Another IPL fan retorted,
“Dhoni only bats when CSK is either already winning or when there’s no chance left. It’s frustrating to watch!”

CSK Fans Secondary Celebrate Dismissals of Own Team?

One of the most bizarre happenings in the match was cheering from CSK fans for the dismissal of their players just for the sake of watching Dhoni bat.

The behavior rubbed many cricket enthusiasts the wrong way, with some bashing the so-called ‘knowledgeable Chennai crowd’ for their misplaced priorities.

“Imagine celebrating Ashwin’s wicket just because you want to see Dhoni bat. Ashwin is a legend and a CSK player too. This is just embarrassing,” said a fan online.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Post Match Comments Threw Fuel to Fire

If CSK fans were dissatisfied with the batting collapse and with strategies employed, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s post-match comments just added more insult to injury. Instead of admitting mistakes in the team, Gaikwad said,
“We are still happy that we didn’t lose by a big margin. At the end, it was just 50 runs.”

The comment wore sarcasm as some fans met it with ridicule, labeling it as a poor excuse for a dismal outing.

Only Silver Lining Dhoni’s Stumping

While the entire match was one to forget for CSK, Phil Salt’s (CSK in their 5th over) scintillatingly fast stumping was a moment of glory. Dhoni, in a flash of brilliance, pulled off the bails with his legendary wicketkeeping, leaving Salt completely shocked. It must have been one of the few highlights for the die-hard CSK fans that night.

IPL 2025 Points Table Standings

With this victory, RCB moved to the top of the points table by winning both their matches till now. Their first victory went against Kolkata Knight Riders, whom they mauled, chasing down a modest target of 175.

Meanwhile, the CSKs have slipped to the number seven position following their loss to RCB. They started their campaign with a match against Mumbai Indians which they won.

What Next for CSK?

CSK will have to regather and rethink their plans as the IPL 2025 season rolls on. Already, fans are against their team, and Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dhoni must do themselves and the team justice in their coming matches.

Will CSK rise again, or is it crippled? The passage of time shall tell.
