Chess: The Indian Chess Federation Loses The Olympiad Trophy They Won In 2022
Chess: Currently, a new trophy has been purchased. It will not be as distinctive as the authentic version.
Chess: Sorry for the disorderliness
The All India Chess Federation (AICF) reported to the police that the Chess Olympiad trophy they won in the previous tournament disappeared from their office. As a result, they had to replace it with a replica and issue an apology. Sources from AICF confirmed that the Gaprindashvili Trophy, awarded to the team with the top performance in both open and women’s categories, has been reported as lost.
It is a rotating trophy, and the incident occurred as the Indian men’s team was nearing victory in the 45th edition of the Olympiad in Budapest. India was the most recent winner of the trophy, claiming victory in 2022.
Prepared contingency plan
Anil Kumar Raizada, the vice-president of AICF, informed PTI that they have not been able to find the trophy for more than 30 days after receiving a request from FIDE to bring it to Budapest. He stated that we have lodged a formal report with the police, and they will conduct an inquiry. A senior official from AICF stated that there is a prepared contingency plan and that a new trophy has been purchased for the current edition.

Sorry for the disorderliness
“Yes, we attempted to search for it everywhere as per FIDE’s mandate. Yet, we have not been able to find it yet. The senior official, speaking anonymously, commented on the situation as embarrassing and necessitating full responsibility”. At the moment, a new trophy has been requested. It may not be as distinct as the original, but it will still be similar to the original. We are sorry for the disorderliness.
