Anushka Sharma Gets Emotional As R Ashwin Retires From International Cricket: ‘A Lasting Legacy’

Anushka Sharma recently took to Instagram to bid an emotional farewell to Indian cricketer R Ashwin, who announced his retirement from international cricket on December 18, 2024 .  Ashwin, India’s second-most successful Test bowler after Anil Kumble, made the announcement during a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma after the drawn third Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Anushka Sharma shared a video of Ashwin’s retirement announcement on her Instagram stories, tagging him and his wife, Prithi Ashwin, with a heartfelt message: “A lasting legacy” .Her reaction was echoed by other celebrities, including Ranveer Singh, who penned, “One of the greatest to ever do it. Thank you for the memories”.

Virat Kohli, Anushka’s husband and a fellow cricketer, also shared an emotional note, expressing his gratitude for having played with Ashwin for 14 years ³. Kohli’s message highlighted Ashwin’s incredible contributions to Indian cricket, calling him a “legend of Indian cricket”.

Ashwin’s retirement marks the end of an era in Indian cricket, but his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of cricketers.
